My name is Keziah (Kee-zee-ah) or Kez (keez) for short. I was born in that magical time of hippies and their complete lack of forethought when they chose names for their children. Kez especially rhymes with a disturbing number of things: cheese, wheeze, sneeze... just to name a few. You can imagine the "fun" other children had with my name. You can also imagine the amount of fun most people have trying to pronounce my name the first time they see it. *nails on chalkboard kind of cringe inserted here*
It does have some interesting roots though. Mom said that she found the name in a book by a Finnish author and it meant "little kitten" Awwww. If only she'd known... ;) Further research shows that it's primarily Hebrew in origin and actually found in the book of Job - one of his three daughter, most beautiful in the land, AND rather extraordinary in the fact that they held land titles of their own in a time when that simply wasn't done. The Hebrew translation is "sweet smelling spice". It's also an African name (can't remember the language now) that means "treasured". Go me!
It fits pretty well, really - I love cats and have some decidedly feline characteristics and behaviours *purrrrrrrs*. I do smell pretty damned good most of the time... Now, if someone would get off their tookus and treasure me - I'd be all set! ;)
Other oddities:
I'm freakishly tall - 6'2" / 1.88m
Deep red hair - gotta love modern chemistry
Blue/green/grey eyes - they change all the time depending on what colour I'm wearing and what mood I'm in.
Curvy, curvy curvy - this characteristic is a good thing somedays and a bad thing others. I'm trying to be a little less curvy - I will always have J.Lo butt.
Tattoos: 3 - the kanji for "rebirth" on the back of my neck, a red-tailed hawk across my back, and a Canadian maple leaf on my left ankle.

Where I am now:
I'm Canadian - born and bred so far back that we can only guess by last names where our ancestors came from. I'm currently in Kosice, Slovakia studying veterinary medicine (in English) and I *just* finished the classes of my second year.
How did I get here? Cosmic alignments is the only way I can describe it. My roommate worked with a woman who just happened to be the mother of the first Canadian to study here. The roommate asked her about the program (knowing my interests and dreams about vet medicine), information was passed, contact with her daughter was established, vast amounts of research was conducted and here I am. I sold everything, left behind my beloved boys (cats Wicca and Mercury) and my four year relationship, got on a plane, and came here in September 2006 - single and alone and excited and terrified. It's been quite a ride but a successful one. I love my little city with its 800 year old Gothic Cathedral ringing its bells just down the street from me.
I am who I am and that changes daily. I change what needs to be changed when it needs changing and I strive to grow and experience and express myself daily. Somedays, I'm more successful than others, but that's okay. Evolution is rarely a rapid process, but I have been known to take quantum leaps forward on occasion. This journal chronicles a great majority of that evolution. I am not the same person I was when I left Calgary two years ago and I'm really happy about that. I'm ambitious and have very specific and significant plans for my future career. I strive to be extraordinary in my field as well as in other aspects of my life. I also love it when I inspire others to pursue their dreams - it's so rewarding, you have no idea.
I've never been one for letting minor little things like life get in my way. Once I set my sights on something, the world aligns itself to my whims and my road may as well be as smooth as glass. My past helped shape me and I'm grateful for all the lessons I was taught along the way. I continue to learn everyday. It took a giant leap of faith in myself to cross the Pond and come here to Kosice, Slovakia to pursue veterinary medicine, but really it was inevitable as is everything else that I have planned for my life.
If I seem different from who I was yesterday, it's because I am. Everyday, I am reborn. Everyday, everything I could ever dream of for myself is attainable and within easy reach. As it should be and so it is...
